Little big rant ahead:
I joined the fandom with the start of ww era after the previous i was in turned into a literal dumpster on fire. And while it was clear in hindsight that the golden era of the tk fandom was around 2012-2014 (maybe it can be stretched to 2015), ww era wasn't bad either. Yeah the majority of the old guard/bfn was inactive or waning their presence a lot and basically disappeared the moment the ww tour ended we still had:
- gif/edit/moodboard makers
- art makers (not a lot but a few at least!!!)
- people posting pics from other social media. Either band photos or encounters with fans. Like people were ''fighting'' to be the first to repost the band insta pics!!
- people who weren't content creators but that at least they reblogged with funny tags. No, i didn't mind seeing the same pic of brandon 7 times during my catch up scrolling if 4 of them put some kind of tags to read in them (funny/horny/roasting him), that was the enrichment!!
Then the tour ended and fandom activity shrunk to 1/10 of what it used to be. Ressurrected briefly for their appearance at glasto 2019.
Lol thais liked a post about me complaining about not wanting to post 2 gifsets i made bc the fandom was too dead and i didn't want to waste them. It's dated 3 years ago!!!
Then 2020 happened. The pandemic, their social media silence on the blm protests (the bar was literally on the floor... we only wanted a social media post giving support!!!! How come the bootlickers were all up brandon's ass about how difficult it was to rewrite a whole verse of land of the free to play on tv in 2 weeks but posting a black pic on insta tagged blm was too hard??? HOW?), the horrific situation of the roadie hazing happened in the past that resurfaced... like i don't blame anyone who didn't want to engage with the band afterwards (bc they are some good reasons!! I will never forget how they let us down! And while the hazing wasn't perpetrated by the band members it was still such a horrible situation that shouldn't have happened!)
But this was a complete mass extinction here on tumblr. Of all the fandom communities this seems the only one that died like this.
We are currently left with
- 3,5 gif makers
- maybe 2 art makers if i include myself
- maybe 2 people posting pics including myself
No consistent edit/moodboards/meme makers no consistent reposting of official pics from their socials. The like/reblog ratio on posts is 3:1 on good days and close to 4:1 or 5:1 on bad days. I wake to notes (when i get any) that are 80-90% likes. Most of the rare reblogs don't have any kind of commentary at all.
I could easily run my queue for 7-10 days just with posts i could find on my dash, almost zero effort bc i was fed content on my dash. Nowadays i need to spend hours on blogs/my drafts/my bookmarks to put something together, only for likes. It gets tiring easily with a soul and energy sucking job to do to survive only to barely get any reward (reblogs with tags to read). This community will never recover on people who refuse to use the reblog button
It's even harder to compare this fandom to the mcr one, yeah it's a quite unique situation bc having such a thriving fandom despite the band being broken up most of tumblr's life is INSANE but you can't help getting angry/sad at why did they survive but not us? I can reblog so much fanart on my sideblog!! People posting pics!! Many archivial blogs!! The gifsets!! It just feels so unfair!
#this can't be a one man job bc time and resources are limited it takes a village blah blah blah#empty blogs who only use like are fandom leeches#tl;dr: ww era was actually a silver age of the fandom despite all of its problems#and i'm clearly a reward fuelled person doing it for myself is not enough of a motivation to keep myself going#i need that external motivation#also: if you reblog posts from me adding tags to read. any tag to read. i love you so much

I'd be so cool if Roma people from other places could add to these type of posts. English speaking discourse sometimes leaves me just a lil bit confused, cause in Spain for example, while "Gitano" can be a slur, it's also, not only the word the vast majority of Roma people use to identify themselves, but also the word many organizations use ("Fundación Secretariado Gitano", or "Gitanas Feministas", come to mind), definitely a word meant to be used by non-roma. I have no authority here, but I'd say... use this info when speaking English, but maybe also check with your local Roma people?

Can you or someone kindly explain to me why violent riots are necessary? Why we apparently need to fight fire with fire? I just. Similar to your recently reblogged post, I cannot fathom how it is helpful. I understand that people are angry and they shouldn't be condemned in the way they are being condemned for property destruction (though people seem to forget that a lot of people, especially poor and disabled people, can't afford that) but like. What is this actually going to achieve?
The specific “point” of the current protests is addressing racist policing practices, an end to police brutality, and/or the abolition of the police, all of which have very actionable goals--for example, increasing crisis mental health resources, decriminalizing stupid shit that it doesn’t benefit society to police, changing how police are funded to de-incentivize unnecessary arrests or tickets, or increasing police accountability for harm. But I’ll address your question less as “what do these activists want to achieve” and more as “why are riots occassionally necessary praxis.”
The one thing I can’t comment on is how much the appearance of armed counter-protestors changes things. That’s new, partly in the last couple years and especially this week, and I haven’t got a solid grip on how that plays out. So I can just talk about my general knowledge.
The violence isn’t the inherently necessary part, it’s the protest. Protests and demonstrations are necessary; to create political change, it helps to demonstrate that a fuckload of people care deeply about this thing and are willing to take time out of their day to show that. It shows other citizens that this is an issue they could care about without being alone, and it shows the people in charge that if they don’t pay attention to this issue, a large proportion of their constituents are going to be unhappy. Sometimes the protest is also instrumental to the change, like occupying a building so it cannot be demolished, or occupying a road so that troop convoys cannot drive down it. My ex-girlfriend’s involved with a group that puts cups of paint on bike lane markers to demonstrate how frequently cars drive into bike lanes if they’re able to, in an attempt to get the city to invest in bike-friendly infrastructure. There are a lot of tactics out there.
Most protests are nonviolent and many are successful. They achieve small goals. An elected official may have so many people sitting in their office waiting room that they are forced to talk to them so that they go away and business as usual can resume. A cause may get on the news because people want to understand why a road was shut down or what all the people standing out there are talking about. People in power have to listen to activists and make concessions to them to make them go away. Stuff like that.
Some people believe that violence is intrinsically necessary--that’s the point of the Black Bloc, who think that property damage is a positive good in itself, or that nobody will listen unless you damage things and cost people money. That, to be honest, I... mmm. I think many people with violent leanings love violence in itself and will justify it more often than someone looking at the situation with dispassionate eyes will say, “What we need here is to break a bunch of shit.”
But the more common cause of violence in protests is when people want the protest to stop or go away. That is, when the elected official’s secretary says, “Look, he’s not going to meet with you, please leave,” or a boss says, “I’m not going to increase your wages, so go away and stop telling the customers about your grievances with me.” Part of what makes a protest successful is saying, “No, I’d really rather stand here and talk about my goals than go away and make your day easier.”
That’s when it escalates to force. When they call security or police to get them to force the protesters to leave. It turns into a game of chicken; as a protestor, it doesn’t do to show that you can be easily made to back down, but your opponents are going to use an increasing level of force to make you want to leave, or to physically remove you. And when that escalates--for example, when the riot squad shows up and starts physically attacking people--protestors often find that sitting there and letting someone attack you isn’t a good strategy; keeping yourself safe and continuing the protest are generally preferable. Responses can range from putting people who’d make the police look bad for attacking in front (people in wheelchairs, people in nice clothing, people with bicycles, Nice White People, whatever), to having medics on hand to treat people who have been injured, to using umbrellas to ward off tear gas, to, yeah, the use of violence in defense. If a cop is beating up your friend, and you can beat the cop up so they stop, that makes a material difference to your friend.
This is why even Fox News has slowly started to cotton on to the fact that forceful police responses to protests, like calling out the riot squad, are the key feature that escalate protests and turn them really nasty. Only a small number of people at any protests actually want things to turn violent or loot things; the majority of people would rather use peaceful means if they were available, but they’ve found that nothing else worked so now they’re protesting. But once people are under physical threat, they get scared and desperate, and things get ugly.
Especially at Black Lives Matter protests, the police often have a very direct and vested interest in making sure the protestors don’t get listened to. They don’t want to be criminally responsible for the things they do in the line of duty or have the news talking about what a bad job they’ve done. Therefore, there is a lot of incentive for police to make the protestors look bad--so they’re very likely to use police tactics that they know will escalate the situation and turn it violent. And since that’s the exact thing BLM protestors want to draw attention to, it to some degree proves their point to be able to demonstrate the police responding to nonviolent people with violence when the cameras are rolling.

Heyo all!! I figured that I ought to make a little introductory post to pin to my blog here, so peeps who aren’t on browser can still get a hello and an intro to me even if they cannot get to my About Me page.
So, hello! I go by Nelvana (Nel for short), or Lucky, and I use she/her pronouns. I am a Canadian college student, and my timezone is ADT (Atlantic Daylight Time).
I like to chat and meet new people, so feel free to drop in and say hi! I dabble in interest in a fair few fandoms, so if you want to talk about headcanons, ocs, and so on, I’m open for that too!
I write and draw a lot, though I don’t always post my work here. More often than not I just reblog posts here; often stuff from creators, or informative posts, or just shitposts. I don’t really use the queue, so expect dumps of posts whenever I come online and reblog stuff. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tagging system for most of it yet, so it’s kind of a mess. But if you want a type of post tagged for any reason, especially triggers, just let me know and I’ll start using that tag for those posts!
I run a PMD, GtI inspired ask blog, @asking-paradise, and am also the author of a PMD AU fic, Galaxies Above, which you can find on this blog as well (though, its page is also more easily accessible on browser)!
DNI list under the cut.
DNI if you are/identify/support any of the following:
ableist
racist, anti-BLM, all lives matter, xenophobic, antisemitic, nazi, alt-right/white supremacist, pro-Trump
sexist
fatphobic, body shamer
homophobic, transphobic, queerphobic, anti-neopronoun, lgbtq+ - exclusionist
TERF (or whatever they're going by now), gender critical, transmed, truscum
zoophile
pedophile, MAP
proshipper, anti-anti, supporters of incestuous, pedophilic/abusive ships
anti-otherkin
whitewashing
If I break your DNI please let me know so I can undo that. Or just block me. I'm really not looking to get involved in any discourse or debates. Again, if I've made an error you're welcome to politely inform me so I can look to improve.

Pens fans and Sid fans are great at holding our faves accountable - you’re probably not
If you’re inflamed by that title then this post is for you. Flouncing away from it makes you look like a clown who can’t handle criticism and correction. I’ll go ahead and preface this by saying my disability limits my usage of screens to only the absolute essentials so I won’t be back here to see if you’ve done either so please save yourself time and any huffy replies you’re bristling with. I’m not interested in returning to tumblr, trust me.
I shouldn’t be surprised considering this fandom’s selectiveness when it comes to politics and hockey but it’s still not great to get an anon message that huge swathes of fandom are now treating the topic of racism not with regards to Akim Aliu or BLM, but as a popularity contest of performative white men. Oh and their eagerness to once again remind anyone they think cares that “humph they don’t wike Sidney Cwosby and their fave is superior! Take THAT Cwosby fans!”
Again, y’all should’ve saved yourselves the trouble but fortunately I and Pens fandom have a nice history of protesting and holding our team and Sid accountable for you to learn from. Especially Caps and Blues fans recently, also anyone gross enough to be Ovechkin fans, but especially if you consciously decide to have anything to do with supporting the Blackhawks and not smacking yourself in the eye every time you type or utter the team name. Like, holy shit are we really out here on the brink of saying you can be best friends with Patrick Kane and still be... jesus christ. (Start here and work backward - any other Pens fans, rb and add your own history of it) I’ll try to keep this brief but I couldn’t really care less if anyone finds it too long lol. If you’re all willing to post about this shit then you can sit and listen.
1) If any of the gestures made by these white men has turned your head or made you think they’re better than other white men in hockey then a) you’re obviously biased towards them in the first place and are jumping on any fucking crumb cast your way, and b) you’re wrong. They do not care about you. They do not care about BLM. They have known all along when they and others have done wrong and they have done nothing until pressured to do so. They do not care about anything beyond hockey.
2) I have watched multiple rotations of PR efforts to Make Hockey Players Seem Like Great Guys over the decades. This is the latest. They pretend to atonement. They donate. They make statements. They wear tape on their sticks. They put on special jerseys for fifteen minutes. They pose with the minority they have offended (or attend Pride parades and get nothing but praise for it and the unearned mantle of having saved gays everywhere). And yet as I am here to attest, it has never done anything. It is intended to make you like them and do exactly what you’re doing now - buy into their cultivated hierarchy of goodness that has zero relevance to real world ideas of goodness or morality.
3) The bar is too low to call any white male hockey player a good man. “But you stan Crosby!!” Yep. Read through my blog and I absolutely go nuts with the narrative of this guy’s career and his impact or lack of action in hockey. I balance a fascination with him as a hockey player with real life criticism of him as a person. You can too!
4) Lastly, if you think “omg my guy is SOOOOO much better than Crosby because of x, y, and z” then you are a fool. You’re playing precisely into what the NHL and it’s teams have been pushing - especially on female fans! You’ve been fed a version of a white man, you’ve been given a tamping down in terms of your expectations, and now you’re in love. You’ll take anything he throws you and carry it like a banner over the heads of any inferior hockey men! You’re the loser in this exchange.
Ironically for the latest batch of “I hate Crosby”, Sidney Crosby has in fact done far more to improve the diversity of hockey than your white faves - the Little Penguins was his baby and spread league wide as the Learn to Play program and his focus has been to push management of his teams toward making tickets and events accessible to lower income families. Most of your dudes wait for initiatives from Head Office to be handed down via PR. Here’s the kicker! that absolutely every Pens and Sid fan I know is aware of! Neither Sid’s proactive work nor most players’ going along makes them better than each other in a real world sense! Because none of them are doing a fraction of what they could easily be doing to tackle real issues in an up front and direct way! And they all know it and hide from it! They’re all white boys who don’t like to rock the boat unless enough of their brothers do it with them!
None of them spoke up for Akim Aliu in any actual supportive way!! They waited for human trash bag Evander Kane to say something and slowly trickled in!! they all waited!! They waited their whole careers and they’re gonna keep you waiting!!
Jonathan Toews is not better than Sidney Crosby. You are the ones who are upset by that fact - we’re the ones who’ve never questioned it. Johnny being best friends with a racist and abuser (and defending him openly!) and never answering for his racist logo on his chest or his notoriously brazen racist fans DOES NOT GO AWAY just because in this instance Sidney Crosby was later than him. It does not disappear just because his fans read a silly and utterly empty, self-serving mansplaining text post and decide that he is suddenly better than Sidney Crosby’s equally empty statement days later. Judge these men intelligently!! Stop making it a teen magazine bestest boy rating!! DO NOT TELL PEOPLE TO BRUSH OFF A MAN’S FRIENDSHIP AND DEFENCE OF A RACIST ABUSER RAPIST JUST BECAUSE HE WROTE A NOTE SAYING HE’S FOUND OUT ABOUT RACISM AND BOY IT’S NOT GOOD EH.
Please, just for a second, just think of how stupid it is to take an issue like systemic racism and actually sit down and actually turn it into whose boy is better than whose. For the love of god please if nothing else stop doing that!!
THE TIME FOR STATEMENTS TO ACT AS BROWNIE POINTS IS DONE. THE TIME FOR WHITE MEN COPPING TO RACISM IN THEIR LEAGUE AND THE WORLD AS SOMETHING WORTHY OF PRAISE IS DONE. THEY ARE TOO LATE. STOP ACCEPTING SO LITTLE JUST SO YOU CAN ENGAGE IN STAN WARS.
THE PEOPLE DOING THE WORK TO IMPROVE SYSTEMIC RACISM IS ALL YOU SHOULD CONCERN YOURSELF WITH. NOT THEIR SEEMINGLY BENEVOLENT OPPRESSORS. STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM. STOP PRAISING THEM. IF THEY REALLY MEAN WHAT THEY ARE SAYING THEY WILL CONTINUE WITHOUT PRAISE AND WE WILL SEE IT IN REALITY OVER YEARS TO COME. THEY GET NOTHING FROM US NOW. NOTHING.
NO ONE CARES THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE SIDNEY CROSBY. WE CARE THAT YOU ARE INSISTING THAT WE REDUCE OUR SOCIAL AWARENESS DOWN TO SLURPING ON ANY WHITE MAN’S EGO IN THE MIDST OF INEQUALITY AND ABUSE THAT HE - WHOEVER HE IS - HAS SILENTLY AND ACTIVELY PERPETUATED, JUST BECAUSE HE DONATED MONEY OR WROTE STUPID FUCKING WORDS IN NOTES APP.
#sidney crosby#jonathan toews#chicago blackhawks#alexander ovechkin#gabriel landeskog#braden holtby#idk who else people are slobbering over but this is a start#too fuckin tired and I only came back to offer support to pens fans dealing with morons again

Apparently your Nathan Pyle post is mostly made up lies? Like he made one post in 2017, but is anti-Trump, pro BLM and MeToo etc. There's something really off about digging into someone's past to try and find stuff to fuck with their reputation. Also, it's possible to separate creation from creator. We don't need to be more careful about what we reblog, we need to be more careful about believing random tumblr posts.
Ok.
So the link that I posted stated one fact about Pyle, easily verifiable. No lies.
And this is the last time I’m going to address it because I’m getting super sick of dealing with it.
The post has, as of my writing this, almost 38,000 notes/comments. Most of them are angry screeds decrying “callout culture”. It’s a whole lot of manufactured rage and holier-than-though copypasta saying the same things over and over:
“it was TWO WHOLE YEARS AGO” “here’s a bunch of progressive stuff he’s done that negates it”“you’re just being petty/trivial”“Why can’t you separate the artist from the art? It doesn’t really matter”
The thing about shitting all over the so-called “call out culture” of the post is that it takes an immense amount of privilege. And as with most hand-wringing over call out culture, it reserves the benefit of the doubt for the privileged. Seeing a pattern?
People who are DAILY watching men make decisions about their bodies, men who will NEVER have to deal with the ramifications of the laws they are enacting, say that they find it unsettling that Pyle supported the March for Life, a group that believes that we should not be allowed to make decisions about our own bodies once we become pregnant. A group that would deny us basic human rights.
Suddenly our hesitancy means we’re just a bunch of bitches with an ax to grind. Why can’t we just IGNORE that he was fairly recently vocally supportive of a movement that aims to deny us bodily autonomy? I mean, REALLY. Apparently we’re all just being a big bunch of hypocrite babies because we can’t enjoy his comics knowing he doesn’t think we are capable of making decisions about our own bodies
In the comments of the post, he’s already gotten the full throated support of so many. A fake fucking comic someone made in response to his anti abortion views that CLEARLY SAYS "altered from Nathan Pyle" at the bottom has been used in the comments to exonerate him by people who can't read. He’s got a whole redemption narrative, though he’s never actually addressed his original statement. In fact, his followup was strangely careful not to mention it at all even though it was the very thing that seemed to make him think a statement of any kind was required. He gets the benefit of the doubt. He gets thousands of people DEMANDING he be treated with kindness and common decency.
We who have skin in the game get death threats and name calling. Don’t we deserve an outpouring of understanding and compassion? The reproductive rights debate isn’t just a fun thought experiment to pass the time for us. What’s happening in states all over the US is that we’re seeing our rights to our bodies and lives being strategically written out of existence. But we don’t get a pass. We’re just being hysterical over nothing, if the comments on the post are to be believed.
Simply questioning whether or not we personally want to continue to support a man who doesn’t support our rights as human beings has somehow made us worthy of the faux outrage and pearl clutching that is going on.
That’s by design. It’s a tactic meant to silence the vulnerable and uphold the status quo via gaslighting and shouting us down.
I never said Pyle should be canceled. As I said in my last post about this, I simply shared information. And the reason I shared it is precisely BECAUSE he’s so otherwise progressive. And everything he’s done to earn the golden ally card y’all are so HAPPY to hand out to him doesn’t negate the fact that he hasn’t clarified his views. And now all we’re left with is the fact that very recently, he openly supported the movement that’s turning us into chattel before our very eyes.
So no, it’s not digging something up to slander him. People can use the information available to make their own decisions about if and how they support him. But when it comes to believing my body belongs to me, I can’t separate content from creator. Asking me to do so just proves that you are privileged enough that you can afford to treat the issue so casually.
YOU need to be more careful. To read the whole article. To listen to vulnerable voices. And not to get carried away because mobs with torches and pitchforks told you to be angry at vulnerable groups asking for respect. I know it’s fun to act like you’re above it all, but all it really shows is how little you think of our humanity.

I know I don’t really have to, but I’d like to disclose the reasons why I haven’t been posting about BLM on this specific account is (none of that white celebrity “I couldn’t find the right words uwu” bs):
1. This is my side account, mostly dedicated to fandom related stuff. I do reblog BLM posts on my main account, though.
2. I’ve been very inactive on tumblr lately (actually, I’ve always been), except for when I add things to my queue, even on my main account (especially on my main account).
3. I mostly post about it on instagram and twitter but even then, being black myself, it’s just mentally draining to be constantly exposed to the blatant racism of the world (well, more than I do in my everyday life lmao, but there’s only so many times I can bear to see racists call me the n word in one day <3), and I guess I consider tumblr to be the place where I can kind of tune out (?), especially since my mental health has kind of been going down the drain lately...
Anyways, just wanted anyone that follows me to know that I fully support BLM and me not posting about it on this specific account doesn’t mean I don’t support it. I just consider this account to be the place where I can take a mental break, because sometimes, there’s just too much going on and I have what the kids call “a severe case of anxiety” so uh, I get triggered very easily.
On this note, here’s the link to the BLM carrd. It tells you what you need to do to help.
Donate if you can, especially to bail funds, but if you can’t donate, at least try to sign petitions.
Reminders that:
- not all lives matter until black lives do (because saying “all lives matter!” before ignoring systemic racism is very effective indeed..)
- that the pictures of cops kneeling and being with the protestors is straight up cop propaganda. The same cops often end up macing the protestors unprompted half and hour later.
- It’s not a matter of just “a bad few apples”. If a doctor fucks up badly, you don’t say “oh, it’s just a few bad doctors”- you fire them, take away their license, and throw their ass in jail.
- “Good” cops are still complicit of murder if they stand by and let their colleague kill thT mad without intervening.
- Cops that actually try to blow the whistle and want change tend to get fired, or silenced.
- When you say black lives matter, you better mean ALL black lives. This includes lgbtq+ lives. You can’t fully support BLM if you don’t love black trans people and black gay/les/bi/pan people, etc. You don’t get to pick and choose WHICH black lives matter. This also applies to disabled and mentally ill black people, so I better not see any of you mfs throwing ableist slurs around.
I’m going to end this here, because it’s getting too long, but final note: if you support police brutality in any way, shape or form, and you don’y support blm, feel free to unfollow me. Same if you’re the type of person who posts about how “all lives matter!1” to derail the movement.
#blm#ACAB#black lives matter#justice for george floyd#lgbtq#mental illness#lgbtq rights#don’t be an asshole#don’t derail the movement#just a small statement mwah#justice for every black life that was unfairly taken by cops#all cops are BASTARDS

Sorry, You didn't really say or do anything to make me think that you are Asian. I thought that I read sth in your lj where u said that you were and just run with it. It was a long time ago and I must have misread. Also, you don't really post a lot political stuff, it is more like I notice it more because when I visit your page I skip all Merlin related stuff and am interested in the rest so again my fault. As for my ise of imaginary- yeah, it was passive agressive, altough not intentionally so
… my bad. I rarely engage in political conversations online because it never ends well, especially when my views clash with 90% of tumblr users so I am used to combative tone and it was unnecessary.. As for SJW I am not sure if that is dissmissive term as it discribes the “movement” well? I am not native speaker and am aware that it can be used as derogative term, but was also convinced that it is used by people on the left if political spectrum. I asked you why you are mainy interesetd in USA because I was working under the assumption that u are Asian it seemed to me weird that a person coming from China/Japan etc would be championing social justice in USA when it not that big of a problem(or at all IMO) whie ignoring very real problems in their own country. But since you are not Asian and you post political stuff rarely you are right it is a silly discussion. The fault is completely on my side. I am allergic to these kind of stuff and you are one of my favourite writers so I exaggerated. Once again sorry.
As for the rest of your response: I also come from relatively poor country that was screwed over by both Britain and USA and many other countries, and I don’t agree with many of their policies (or most) but I don’t hate them and believe that as much as people like to say they start wars for the oil etc it is not really true. There are many political and global players and everyone single country is motivated by greed it is only that not every country can exercise their power.
Relatively they are not the worst, it is just that since USA tries to paint themselves as heroes they are held to different, much higher standards than other countries. To sum it up, I am not defending their foreign policies, they have done a lot of wrong and are shortseighted but I still think that are better than other superpowers that will soon take over like China or maybe India. Also, I don;t understand why would you include global warming in your answer?why do you believe it is their fault
I am trying to leave as “green” as I can, I am a vegetarian and I believe we should do everything to preserve environment, but I wouldnt want my country to sign any deals concerning CO2 emission as long as other countries do not do the same. Otherwise, they would just cripple their economy and not help the world? As for Trump(if you are still interested) I find him the epitome of self-important, conceited stereotypical american but still so much better than alternative and despite distaste. would still vote for him. Because he at least apppears to be anti globalist and has a much higher moral ground than Hillary. what are his SPECIFIC actions that you find so abhorrent? Anyway, what I alluded to in my message was not politics of USA but the social justcie issues, like support BLM or me to movement(I am not sure if you posted enything regarding that, so srry if I presume wrongly) which I find are absolutely not based on facts and despite that people still perpetuate that, and if u don’t agree you are racist and sexist. No arguments whatsoever. It is also silly to me when I see the posts about the West being this cesspool of sexism while honour killings or FGM is nearly a non issue on social media or racism when considering the West is still the least racist place in the world when you compare it to China/India/SA or any other place. So, I find the social media effort to be misdirected and controlled by emotions. Even the indigineous people issued you mentioned. Americans get so much shit for their history, while pretty much every single country that exist was created by conquering or displacement of the previous population(u just have to go far enough down the history). So, yeah wht happend to Indigenous people and dissappearance of their whole civilization is a great tragedy but not the first and unfortunately not the last in human history. Why are we hearing about it but not about Anuit people or Persian or Byzantians? it is so imbalanced. Ok, anyway, sorry for the rant it shouldn’t be directed at you and tumblr is definitely not the place for it. Sorry if I offended to you. As I said I love your writing, “DC” is my all time favourite fic, and because I creepely once read through all of your lj(including asks and responses) I(like an internet creep and stalker)liked you and thought you seemed smart, well balanced and knowledgeable so I guess I felt entitled to to make the ask. Wish you all the best in life.
No worries, I’m sorry I came off so aggressive in my answer. I did actually live and work in China for a while during my LJ days and it’s entirely possible I may have tagged myself as being there on my fandom profiles at the time. It was a happy period for me and I talked about it a lot to anyone who had the patience to listen, so it’s very plausible that you have read something about it on my LJ! I’m very sorry if it was misleading, but I was only ever an expat there!
I used to be a lot more open about my real name and real-life dealings in fandom communities, but that almost backfired spectacularly, so I locked down a lot of stuff because it could do me quite a bit of damage.
OK, I concede your point that if you remove the Merlin stuff, a lot of what is left on my Tumblr is going to be either me reblogging cats or raging about social injustices (oops) 😅
I’d just like to make it clear that I absolutely do not hate either the USA, the UK or any other country in the world. Like I said, people are people, and disgusting policies are disgusting policies and every single country is guilty of them. It’s just that some have a bigger impact and are more visible. My own country is a source of so much shame and anger for me, it far outweighs anything the UK and the USA could have ever done because it’s personal, but our nonsense is just not something that I come across when casually scrolling through Tumblr, so I don’t reblog it. It’s possible to love a nation and its people and still be critical of the evil they have done.
Also, let me just clarify that I’m bothered by all injustices and human rights violations everywhere, but usually there isn’t a post about them when I’m scrolling at 2 am at night that I can reblog. The USA is just… low hanging fruit, and let’s face it, from where I stand, hating on their president, the white supremacists, the Nazis, fundamental Christians, racists and the Republicans in general after what they have turned into is not hating on the USA, but rather cheering on the sane part of the country to get rid of this toxic waste ASAP. The same goes for Brexiteers in the UK and I am so, so sad for all the people that are going to suffer because of it.
Of course, I’m aware that China and Japan have issues and human rights violations that are mind-boggling, but again, they just don’t appear on my dash very often, or at least not in English or from a source I can easily fact-check. The Japanese and Chinese stuff I follow is mostly art, nature and pictures of pretty clothes. My knowledge of either of these countries is very superficial compared to Western countries, which impact me directly, so it really isn’t my place to appoint myself as a champion of human rights in the Far East when my own country and continent are a growing dumpster fire that cannot be contained.
On the subject of global warming, I’m not blaming the USA (entirely, because they, of course, played their part, but so did the rest of humanity). I’m enraged by their governing body’s rhetoric as of late, the denial of climate change, every single action that Trump took since taking office (such as withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement), him making ignorant, snide remarks in the middle of the polar vortex just days ago while people were suffering, deliberately sabotaging scientists and spreading dangerous, false information when each and every single country should be all-hands-on-deck if we want to avert a disaster of global proportions (especially with all the signs pointing to us being too late already). Nobody is suggesting that the USA should unilaterally reduce carbon emissions, all countries in the world must do it and develop the technology to make it feasible to convert to clean energy. And yes, the USA, China and other giants have to lead the way because they are the ones with the power! My poor, tiny country is not the one that can impact anything, so yes, the USA is absolutely more responsible to lead the way forward, but instead of at least moving in the right direction, Trump is deliberately lying and sabotaging all effort because he likes the money he gets from Big Oil companies, and he’s giving a platform to religious nutcases for votes, who think that there won’t be a global disaster of epic proportions in the near future because God promised Noah he would never again flood the entire Earth in the Old Testament. It’s not even the outright evil that is bothering me the most right now, but the mind-numbing stupidity.
I have nothing but loathing for both of the Clintons. They have caused so much destruction in my country and I do not want good things for either of them, ever. I will never pretend that Hillary Clinton is anything even resembling a good person because you do not reach that level of power by having a conscience, but at the very least, she is not a rapist and paedophile that the general public knows of (which is more than we can say for her husband, btw). Trump has no moral high ground whatsoever, IMO. He has done everything imaginable, from scamming charities (this was proven in court) to raping minors (see Epstein). He has no redeemable human characteristics and is not even intelligent enough to pretend that he does, which is at least one thing that Hillary has going for her. I’m not going to sit here and list all the reasons why Trump is abhorrent because a) it cannot fit in a Tumblr post b) I would be sitting here for years.
I will also not engage in discussion about whether or not BLM is a valid movement, ever. I don’t understand what you mean when you say it isn’t based on ‘facts’. Which, facts are in doubt, exactly? It’s based on multigenerational, still ongoing trauma and persecution of an entire race of people! I’m neither black nor an American, but I believe African-American people when they talk about the terror they experience on a daily basis in their own country. I have eyes and I have ears, I know plenty of white people and have insight into how they think because I too am white and have been raised with similar bullshit. I have lived in Africa for years and seen things with my own eyes. I will never not take the side of black people when they protest racism anywhere and I will never not believe them when they talk about police brutality, race-based violence and systemic racism in countries built on slavery.
Of course, I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist in other places and in other forms, but talking about one does not negate the other.
Also, I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make about the West not being sexist because other places have it worse? I’m sure I misunderstood this, so forgive me if that is the case. FGM is terrible, yes, but that in no way invalidates other types of gender violence that still ruins the lives of countless women. Just because the women in, say, Saudi Arabia have it worse, that doesn’t mean that the women here or in the USA should not talk about issues that directly affect them (and, btw, I have absolutely been outraged about Saudi Arabia and FGM and shared posts about both). All are bad! This is not a competition.
On the topic of you saying that America gets so much shit for its history, which you think is unjust, I have to mention that European settlers killed up to 95% of Native Americans in some areas in relatively recent history. Just days ago, I was reading an article about how they killed so many people, it actually changed the global climate! This is genocide on such a massive scale, my brain can’t even comprehend it, and yet here we are today, with Columbus Day and Thanksgiving as holidays while the surviving Native Americans suffer all kinds of indignity and discrimination, so no, I don’t think we are talking about it enough and I feel that America deserves all the shit it gets for its history. IMO, it is not getting enough shit! The fact that there are other issues out there that need to be talked about too and are being silenced does not in any way take away from any of this.
Anyway, let’s not argue about which country is The Worst™ and which human rights issues are more worthwhile than others because that is pointless. We already agree that all governments are corrupt, that evil happened and is still happening all over the world and that all human rights issues are important. I firmly believe that if they were to be evaluated by a psychiatrist, 99% of all high-ranking politicians would be diagnosed with serious clusters of antisocial personality disorders. Most of them would do anything and the only thing stopping them is whether or not they can get away with it. The remaining 1% cannot really do much and keep both their conscience and political power intact.
In any case, the last thing I want in life is to get into Tumblr discourse with LJ people, so how about we just put this behind us? Let’s agree to disagree on who is worse, Trump or Hillary, because that is a pointless disagreement, especially since neither of us is an American and this is getting out of hand. I feel like we are actually miscommunicating and talking about different things. We seem to be arguing different points, so all of it is coming off worse for both of us than it really should be. Also, I wish you hadn’t sent me this ask anonymously, because I now have no way of responding to you except publically, and Tumblr is seriously not a good place for this.
On a happier note, I’m very glad that you enjoyed DC! I’m very sorry for the extremely long hiatus! Unfortunately, I’ve been going through things that stopped me from writing for a long time. I hope that one day I can still come back and finish that story, in spite of everything! Have a good day/night! :)
*hugs*

i was tagged by 3 legends aka kylie @wjmild, dawn @transohaew and ellis @serannes thank you!!
1. why did you choose your url?
i had to look at my url because for a second i didn’t remember what it was now ajdks ... anyway. i had this url during (or around idk) my engineer airing days and to this day it’s probably my #1 url i’ve had so i decided to bring it back for pride month <3 king is trans and i am a trans king, as someone once said to me when i first changed to this skdsk so that’s why!!
2. any sideblogs?
yeah i have a sports sideblog (i know, i know) and an aesthetic sideblog (that i always forgt about lmao). maybe i have more.... who knows.....
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
on and off but since 2012 (yikes)
4. do you have a queue tag?
i am also boring and lazy like ellis and kylie, even more so actually, because it’s #q
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
because i wanted to talk about the media i enjoy and have a little space where i can have all the things i like. sometimes i go through my blog just to see all the shows and music and movies i like in one place and be like :) :) <3 !!!!!
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?
because abed nadir is trans and i don’t accept criticism on this.
7. why did you choose your header?
i love taemin !!!!!!! and i wanted to have him on my blog so i can see him even while he’s away :(
8. whats your post with the most notes?
i think this earth in atots thirst gifset. i only made it because i’m GAY but no one is immune to earth’s arms so
9. how many mutuals do you have?
idk, how do you check that? but i do have a few and i love them all so much :’)
10. how many followers do you have?
not THAT many but they’re starting to get too many for my comfort lmao it makes me Nervous when there’s too many people perceiving me
11. how many people do you follow?
110
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
i mean who hasn’t
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
depends tbh sometimes i scroll through my dash multiple times a day, sometimes i only check my notes/dms a few times a day, sometimes i’m barely on here. idk
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?
i don’t think so, i don’t like getting into arguments. sometimes terfs find my blog and i feel bad for a bit but immediately block them and move on <3
15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?
it depends on how they’re written tbh, i often find posts that compare 2 issues/tragedies/movements... questionable. for example if you have to be like “you care about blm but you don’t care about this” i’m automatically wary. of course not all comparisons are bad, like if you point out how we as white people only care about x issue when it’s about white people but not when it concerns poc, that’s totally valid. anyway generally i’ll read the post (unless it’s super long and i don’t have the brain for it atm) and if i agree with it or think it’s good information to pass around, i’ll rb it regardless (it can become guilt-trippy pretty easily but i get the need to raise awereness)
16. do you like tag games?
yes! i love being tagged in anything tbh and sometimes it takes a while to do tag games but please do tag me i’ll appreciate it :)
17. do you like ask games?

20. tags?
everyone has probably done this already i’m so late aaaa i’ll tag @another-country @fiatptd and @jiang-yanlis if you’ve already done this or don’t feel like it, that’s okay!!

Both the BLM movement and whats going on in Belarus are examples of police forces terrorizing citizens but you chose to go after BLM for whatever reason. That defeats the purpose. If you're angry about our media not talking about Belarus, you yourself could easily do the research yourself and find ways to help. The U.S. isn't some perfect nation that can save other countries. Go do what you can to help Belarus instead of bashing BLM
that literally wasn't the point of my post. i elaborated further on that in replies, but i will repeat it again. i didn't intend to paint blm as the ultimate problem that has led to people ignoring all the other stuff happening and i definitely didn't want your media to talk about it. i was trying to prove a point that when somethings happening in america, everybody on tumblr has to talk and spread info about it, but when other countries are asking for spreading awareness americans who were bashing and blaming others for not doing enough, cannot even spare a reblog. bashing blm wasn't my intention and i am sorry it came across like that.
